Position Summary:

The Master Machinists ensure each MTS customer receives all ordered machine parts used in manufacturing equipment in a timely manner.

Functional Duties and Responsibilities:

§    Ensures all machined parts ordered through the Engineering Department are in conformance with established quality standards.

§    May communicate directly with engineers to understand the purpose of a part assembly.

§    Must be able to review blueprints and specifications of a particular product and plan the production process

§    Must have a thorough knowledge of many kinds of machine tools; manual lathes, milling machines, and band saws used in the manufacture of close tolerance parts and components.

§    Be able to perform the machining operations, watch for problems in the production process, and check the accuracy of the finished piece against blueprints.

§    Competent in the utilization of all mathematical tools, i.e. fractions, decimals, ratios, etc. so as to properly calculate feeds and speeds of machine tooling and equipment used in the machining and inspection of all produced parts and components.

§    Meet or exceed all productivity targets for the effective production of high quality parts and components.

§    Checks and inspects machining operations against specified tolerances.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

      Mechanical -- Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.

      Mathematics -- Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.

      Engineering and Technology -- Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Mechanically inclined,
• Have good problem-solving abilities,
• Be able to work independently, and
• Be able to do highly accurate work (tolerances may reach 50/1,000,000ths of an inch)

POSITION SUMMARY

Position Summary

The Quality Engineer- Consumable Operations is responsible for the implementation and maintenance of an effective quality management system and tools to support the production of high quality consumable products at MTS.

Responsibilities:

·         Assist the Vice President- Global Consumable Operations and the Quality Director in establishing, implementing and maintaining the Consumable Operations quality management system.

·         Manage the Quality Inspector to ensure that products and processes comply with the relevant requirements of the quality management system.

·         Establish and analyze quality data, perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to improve performance to meet annual objectives.

·         Create and maintain company quality documentation, such as quality manuals, quality procedures, etc.

·         Be responsible for continual improvement activities to enhance the quality system, utilizing a variety of tools including Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing methodology.

• Determine and/or recommend product quality specifications, limitations, and standards and devise and implement programs and processes to ensure product compliance. 
• Define inspection, testing methods, techniques, and equipment and processes.  Determine pass/fail standards.
•  Perform a variety of qualitative and quantitative tests to determine physical characteristics of acceptable product and create/perform standardized testing.

·         Analyze failure, corrective and preventive action to respond to customer complaints.

·         Conduct internal audits, document audit findings and determine appropriate corrective and preventive actions

Requirements:

• Experience with world class quality management systems and tools.
• Effective business writing skills.
• Experience with procedure and policy auditing practices.
• A proven ability to work with teams on projects that require a high degree of interaction and patience.
• The ability to utilize a variety of computer software programs for creating projects and statistical performance reporting, inclusing Excel & MSProject.
• The ability to utilize various measuring tools and equipment in determining product acceptance.
• A minimum of five years of Quality Engineering experience.
• Six Sigma Green Belt a plus
• Bachelors Degree in an Engineering/Manufacturing and/or Quality discipline preferred.

The Shipping Clerk ensures action initiated by the Logistics Manager and the Vice President, Consumable Operations regarding the receipt of materials or the shipping of product for all MTS operations is handled in an effective and timely manner.

Functional Duties and Responsibilities:

• Ensuring a systematic approach and a management operating system is utilized in ensuring real time, just in time, effective and profitable receipt and shipping of materials and product is affected.
• Shipping:

­   Responsible for ensuring all policies, procedures and guidelines established for utilization of all carriers, i.e. UPS, FedEx, LTL trucking companies, etc., are followed.

§  Warehousing and Inventory:

­   Affecting the utilization of an effective warehousing and locator system

­   Ensuring the timely receipt, tagging and storage of all finished goods.

­   Verification and preparation of “picking tickets” at least 4 times daily.

­   Accurate receipt of all materials from receiving noting damages, shortages, etc.

­   Mandated cycle counts and physical inventory counts are effectively completed.

§  Reporting:

­   Proper and accurate reporting of received and shipped goods is maintained as accurate in all computer systems used to track goods and materials, i.e. UPS, FedEx, Bluegrace, etc.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Must be capable of being certified to drive a forklift and standup lift.
• Must be capable of lifting loads up to 70 pounds.
• Must be able to work on or over weekends to ensure inventory levels and counts are maintained.

§    Assist with programming and report creation of internal software systems including accounting, manufacturing and customer relationship management systems.

§    Maintain control of development and implementation process through Development, Testing and Production stages.

§    Maintain and publish project schedules as well as periodic status reports.

§    Participate in the selecting and procurement of software tools.

§    Provide both internal and external program documentation and user manuals where appropriate.

§    Assist in preparation of sales tax returns for multiple states.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

§  Visual Foxpro programming related to accounting systems, manufacturing and inventory control.

§  Access applications including screen creation and modifications.

§  SQL database management including data normalization, validation, trigger events and stored procedures.

§  Data exchange between disparate systems.

§  OLAP database creation and utilization.

§  Crystal Report creation with user definable criteria.

§  Background and understanding of financial reporting requirements.

§  Excellent Excel skills.

Minimum Qualifications:

§  Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field

§  5+ years of experience in the field of accounting and manufacturing software development.

§  Background in financial reporting and understanding of multi-division and multi-national business organizations preferred.

§  Technical Experience desired:  Visual Basic 6.0, VB.net, SQL Server, Visual FoxPro, Excel, Crystal Reports, and R&R Report Writer.

Position Summary:

The Controls Engineer position is a key role that is responsible for designing Electrical and Pneumatic systems that control MTS’ packaging machinery.  Duties include: Electrical and Pneumatic system design, machine debug, machine setup and alignment, procedural documentation, and component failure analysis.

Functional Duties and Responsibilities:

§  Responsible for designing the Electrical and Pneumatic Systems for use in MTS punch card packaging machines. 

§  Perform the Controls Debug by powering on the system, programming all functional components such as PLC’s, motor amplifiers, temperature controllers, etc. and verify their proper operation. 

§  Machine Setup and Alignment, including “teaching” servo motor positions, calibrating heat sealing components, adjusting flow controls, and setting sensors for proper detection.

§  Create Standard Operating Procedures.

§  Assist in performing root-cause analysis on the failed component.  

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Knowledge of Electrical and Pneumatic machine design.
• PLC programming.
• Servo motor commissioning and tuning, and basic mechanical concepts. 
• Attention to detail.
• Troubleshooting and problem-solving.
• Detail-oriented written and oral communications. 
• Ability to work in and around electrical enclosures, servo motors and other high-frequency-producing equipment,
• Perform mechanical adjustments to machine controls such as sensors, knobs, dials, pneumatic flow controls, etc.; and be
• Able to use computers and other electronic equipment to program components and control machinery equipment.
